Ride of Silence 2010

For me it's become a tradition to ride with my friend, Jean, commemorating those who've been killed while riding their bicycles. Jean and I have ridden side-by-side, or near each other, for each local ROS. This was the 5th ROS and to date this year was the best attended with twice as many cyclists as last year. Estimates range between 130 - 150 cyclists participated while 35 others walked in silence throughout the streets of Mesilla. It's a somber yet empowering experience to ride with so many in silent remembrance.

  1. I directed the ROS at White Rock Lake, in Dallas, for 4 years. I took over from Coach Chris Phelan, the founder of the ride. I served on the board for two years also.it is a highly emotional event and I have since retired from directing that ride. The amazing thing is the quiet, in our case with 2,000 cyclists. Gail
