Cycling Opportunities in Southeastern New Mexico

As I get deeper into my new job as BCNM's Bicycle Education Coordinator I'm learning more about cycling opportunities all over New Mexico. As a native New Mexican I'm reluctant to admit that I know very little about cycling in southeastern NM despite the fact that I attended Eastern New Mexico University, in Portales, for a year way back in 1979. Until recently I've know nothing of cycling in this area until I had the pleasure of meeting Bob Reid, Hobbs resident, promoter of cycling in southeastern NM, and all around nice guy. I've discovered that southeastern NM not only offers a wealth of cycling opportunities but is home to some really wonderful people. I haven't been able to get out to Hobbs to join them for a ride yet but I definitely have it on my "To Do List" of places I want to ride and people I want to meet.
